ISTAS workshop

Salut APECS France!

Perhaps some of you might have heard about ART Science Workshop "Integrating spatial and temporal scales in the changing Arctic System: towards future research priorities (ISTAS)" will be in Brest, France from 21 - 24 October 2014.

The workshop is co-organized by the Arctic in Rapid Transition initiative (ART, http://www.iarc.uaf.edu/ART, an official IASC network http://www.iasc.info), APECS, and the European Institute for Marine Studies (IUEM, France, http://www-iuem.univ-brest.fr).

The workshop aims at discussing the integration of spatial and temporal scales to better understand the changing Arctic system as a whole, by including various Arctic research fields: physical oceanography, sea-ice, biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems functioning, marine biodiversity, land-ocean interactions, ocean-atmosphere exchanges and ocean acidification, paleo-reconstruction and biological archives, and social sciences. Results of the workshop will feed into the ICARP III (3rd International Conference on Arctic Research Planning) meeting in Toyama, Japan in April 2015 (http://icarp.arcticportal.org/).

The organising team is looking for an early career researcher who could organise the sea ice session together with Angelika Renner and Alexey Pavlov. Here you can find more info about the session: http://istas.sciencesconf.org/resource/page/id/3

If you are interested in this opportunity, please get in touch with me and/or Angelika! If you know someone who might be interested, please pass this information forward.

Greetings from the North!
Alexey

PS: In the meantime, please consider submitting your abstract to this or other sessions of the workshop. The registration is now open!
